Fathers equal rights are a movement to give men equal rights to child custody and visitation. In most jurisdictions, custody is unilaterally given to the mother with every other weekend visitation given to the father. Custodial mothers also get higher priority in making day to day decisions, which would have to be joint if custody was joint.

The time to make sure you get equal rights is when the divorce is being finalized. Ask for whatever you think you need because afterwards may be too late

As long as you don't have your rights terminated you have equal rights to your children. You have the right to fight for custody and if you don't like something the mother is doing you can petition the court to stop that behavior.
