Is "equal exchange coffee" the same as "fair trade coffee?"

My favorite local coffee shop is promoting the "equal exchange" thing.

Yes, equal exchange coffee is the same type of thing as fair trade. There is just another organization that verifies that it is actually a fair price for good product.
