Penguins have many natural enemies that prey upon them including birds, whales, mammals, and occasionally, fish. Predator birds that prey upon the young include Skuas, the Sheathbill and the Caracaras. Orcas (whales) commonly feed on penguins. Mammal predators are the Stoat, Seals and Sea Lions and people. While fish rarely eat penguins, sharks sometimes make a meal of a penguin.

I have seen in nature documentaries of leopard seals hunting and eating penguins. They are quiet big so they can hunt big penguins like the emperor penguins. They hunt by waiting in the water where the penguins would dive in. Like orcas, leopard seals sometimes play with their food and those poor penguins get tossed around before being eaten.

Penguins have very tasty meat unfortunately so lots of animals hunt them. Leopard seals, Orcas, Skuas, the Sheathbill, the Carcaras, Stoats, Sea Lions and sharks are just a few of the many. These hunters include man!! Man don’t hunt them for food, just for fun. stop them now!!!
