Should you send thank you letters after an interview?

I don't know if this is will look to needy or sucking up too much, but I really need a job.

It is appropriate to send a thank you to all the people who you interacted with you (other than a hello), while you were in the interviewing process. This includes the receptionist. It shows courtesy and is not considered "sucking up" if your note is thoughtfully worded.

A thank you letter is not really polite if it is a disguised request for a favor. Send a brief thank you for the interviewer's time.

It is entirely appropriate to send a brief thank you note after a job interview. Don't go overboard with it, but a brief note will make a good impression.

It is a good idea to send thank you letters after an interview. You can send a follow-up email to thank your interviewers, and this gives you an opportunity to reinforce things that were discussed in your meeting and reiterate your interest in the position.
