Is it a good idea to take a sip of alcohol prior to a job interview?

I am real nervous about a job interview, can I take a sip of alcohol to calm me prior to the interview?

It depends on you sir. If you aren't very intelligent I wouldn't jeopardise any of your faculties. If however you're more concerned that you'll come across awkward and hard to talk to then yes have a bit of Dutch courage. But obviously, have a spritz of cologne and a mint.

Absolutely do not do this. It will add the smell of alcohol to your body without even being drunk. This will kill the job interview.

It is not recommended to sip alcohol prior to any interview being that it may alter your mental status or the person interviewing you may smell it on your breath. There are plenty of other things to do to calm you beforehand such as meditation or even chewing gum may help you.

That would be a huge mistake to do. You could be eliminated immediately from the hiring process if they suspect you have consumed any alcohol prior to your interview. To hire someone who requires a drink to interview would be a huge risk to the company, and most will not do so.

That would be a very, very bad idea. You want to be as sharp and alert as possible during your interview, not dulled by alcohol. Not to mention that your breath will smell like booze if you drink beforehand. You may want to look into Alcoholics Anonymous if you can't feel calm without drinking.
