Should I take a stray cat to a vet exam before I adopt him?

You absolutely should. That stray could have diseases that are communicable to you, your children, and/or your other pets. The stray could be so sick that it needs to be put down. You also need to test for things like feline leukemia and feline HIV. If the cat is disease-free, you should immunize it.

Absolutely. You should always get every animal that you take in, or are even considering taking in, a complete Vet check up. You can also get them all of the necessary shots at the same time, and get them de-wormed. A simple check up is usually fairly cheap, and most the shots you can do yourself if you need.

Definately reason being the cat might be diseased, or needing medical attention of some sort. Especially If you have kids you wouldn't want them exposed to anything harmful.

I would to avoid fleas or an infection in the house that might make other animals sick if you have them.
