I would see a neurologist and possibly a dietician to see if changing the child's diet will help cure them of their symptoms.

The cause(s) of autism remain unclear but it is not a predominantly neurological disease. It would be more effective to consult a psychologist, neuropsychologist, and/or a psychiatrist.

Both should handle an autism patient at some time. However, there are many avenues that should be looked into as the child grows older. Speech Therapist is one of them.

Are all of these people stupid? Autism IS infact a neurological disorder and a person with Autism should definitely be seen by a neurologist to rule out brain abnormalties and illnesses such as Fragile X Syndrome.

Neither, I would see a clinical psychologist. Neurologists and psychiatrists will not spend as much time with your child or do as thorough of an evaluation.
