youneed to realize that all psychiatrists are a little different. some are trained to work with different things such as eating disorders suicide etc. you need to look for someone who will be able to help you with what you need help with and that may mean seeing a few different ones.

Get recommendations from people you know or online lists, and do not think you have to stay with the first doctor you find; you need someone who does not make you too nervous and who you can work with (not against) to solve your issues. Payment is also a consideration.

Make sure they are licensed. You can read online reviews to find one. Call around to different psychiatrists and talk to them. Find one that you like to talk to. You could even start sessions at one and if you don't like it go to another.

You can find a psychiatrist with the help of your family doctor. Then formulate a list of psychiatrists and then take time to call them up and share your feelings and then decide which one is right for your personal life situation. you can ask advice from your relatives or your friends.
