How do you become a psychiatrist?

Through a lot of schooling, hard work and dedication you can become a psychiatrist. With a minimum of four years each of the following: College, medical school, and lastly psychiatry residence training. Taking a lot of science classes in high school won't hurt either.

In order to become a psychiatrist you will need a college education and special training for that field. If you are really interested you might try being a summer camp counsler to get your foot in the door.

A psychiatrist is actually a type of medical doctor. They can prescribe medications. You'll have to get your undergraduate degree and then go to medical school.

Becoming a psychiatrist is a very long and very difficult process. After high school, you will need to get your bachelor's degree. Take premed courses and then take the MCAT. Next, you will need to be admitted to medical school and attend for 4 years. You need to pass the medical board and then do a 4 year residency.
