A water heater that goes under water is safer and more reliable to help you get to your temp you are trying to reach and stay there without a problem.

I think this is the easiest type of heater to use. Since it usually fits on the backside of your tank, you may need to modify your hood for it to fit. Since it comes with a pre-determined heat setting, just follow the directions when adjusting to make the water warmer.
