Degree in journalism is a specialist degree for those who are interesting to join the media and adopt the media as a career. So, if you want to write for magazines and newspapers as a professional, go for the degree in journalism.

For writing in magazines and newspaper a degree in Journalism is only required for full time work. There is no requirement of any degree for freelance work. You should have good knowledge of English only.
