Should I buy MS Works 8?

Short answer: no. Long answer: MS Works is a very basic package consisting of a word processing software, spreadsheet software, and database software. Each of these packages has far more superior versions from other sources, including from Microsoft (namely MS Word, MS Excel and MS Access). Only useful for beginners or on light systems (ie netbooks)

MS Works is not an ideal piece of software anymore. The industry standard is MS Word. However, if you are unable to afford to get MS Word, a good alternative would be using Open Office.
