Should I be concerned about inbreeding dachshunds?

Just like inbreeding in humans, inbreeding in dogs have the same side effects. They are more prone to abnormalities that can be fatal. They are more prone to getting hereditary illnesses like hip dysplasia in golden retrievers. Always do research of the dogs family line before buying a puppy.

If dogs are inbred they have a strong possibility of contracting serious congenital problems because parents are related in some way.

Only but from a reputable breeder. One that breeds to IMPROVE the breed and does the proper health testing, not one out to make a quick buck. Inbreeding increases the risk of passing on genetic defects, and dachshunds have several.

Inbreeding is good and bad. If you are breeding to better the breed then that is different. Inbreeding could strengthen major faults it could improve a line too.
