There are a lot of genuine websites where you can download information, videos, mp3, movies or software safely. Software of free versions can be downloaded at their own websites. For example Adobe Reader can be obtained safely at Adobe website. Youtube is the largest source where you can download any videos uploaded from Youtube's members.

Yes. The internet is full of placed to download things for free. However, a great deal of these things are illegal to be distributing for free on the internet. Also, if you are concerned about safety, I do not recommend looking for downloads online. A lot of downloads are fake.

Yes there are and you have a right to be concerned about safety. My suggestion would be the site Ninite. They are completely safe; I've used them several times.
