Please explain swimming pools and back flushing?

Most pool filters (whether it's sand, DE or cartridge) must be flushed at least once a week. The point is to allow the filter to dispose of the big dirt.

As part of good pool maintenance, the pool filter must be regularly cleaned and flushed. This must include the very important step of running the water backward through the pump, called back flushing. This allows the small particulate matter to be removed by back pressure.
