Keep your newborn warm. Give your newborn plenty of fluids. Check with your pediatrician about whether your newborn can take children's cold medicine such as Children's Tylenol. Keep taking the temperature and take newborn to doctor if things do not get better soon.

Use a humidifier near the crib! It's also helpful to use saline nasal drops a few times a day to break up congestion and a bulb syringe to remove mucus build-up. If very congested, try steaming up your bathroom by running a hot shower and sit in there with baby for 15-20 minutes.

Use a cool-mist vaporizer in your baby's room to help ease the congestion. Any fever in a baby under three months of age warrants a call to the doctor.

Take your child to the doctor right away. If it's after hours at your doctor's office take her to an after hours clinic.
