First, check the oil. Make sure it's full and has been changed recently. Next, check that the radiator fans turn on. Finally, have the coolant and the thermostat replaced. If that still doesn't fix it, it could be a more serious engine problem.

Make sure that you have enough coolant in it and that the radiator is in good shape, and not running too long.

Check the radiator hoses to see if both are warm. If one is cold replace the thermostat. If both are warm check the radiator fan and water pump operation.

Make sure the coolant is at the correct level. Then make sure the cooling fans turn on. If they don't, check the fuses. Also check the thermostat.

First you should check the traffic situation, and pull over to the side of the road. Make sure you check the oncoming traffic before getting out of your dodge caravan. You should make sure your car is cool before opening the radiator cap. After it is cool pour cold water or antifreeze until you get to a gas station.

You should check your radiator fluid. If it is low you may have have a leak, or bad head gasket. It could also be a bad thermostat or water pump.

Check your cooling system do flush and bleed the system. If the radiator doesn't get warm then you probably need a thermostat.

Try to identify which portion is causing the overheating or the portion that is failing to cool the engine. You may have to send it to your dealer.

Have a mechanic run a pressure check on the system to check for a leak or a clock in the radiator, both of those problems can cause overheating with that model.

Flush and fill. If that doesn't work (in order), thermostat + hoses + belt, water pump. White film everywhere & orange coolant? You've been DexCool-ed. These should be flushed annually and your radiator is bad (overheats at idle).

Start with the easy stuff, flush the system really good and replace the thermostat. If still over heating check to see if the water pump is actually pumping the water properly.

There is a need for a reliable colling system as close as possible to the heat source (combustion process area) near the engine cylinder block and the engine head.
