The first thing I would look at is the cat's food. It is difficult to get oil and moisture in good balance in dry cat food. Your best best is always to save money in another area other than food. Keep plenty of cold water available for your cat. There is cat laxative available for cats in a tube.

It is probably the food being fed. He might need a food with different proportions of protein, fat, and other nutrients.

It could something as small as their diet and as big as blood in their stool. They should be seen by a vet.

There are two things that can cause this. Diet plays an important roll in bowel elimination, so the food you give may be too binding. It is helpful to make sure your animal is drinking a lot of resh water and if you are not doing so, you might give a little canned food which will help.
