WWE is scripted, and the participants know the outcome, and aren't meant/supposed to hurt one another. That being said, the bodyslams are real, just not the punches or the holds. In the end, when they are looking like they are in pain, they really aren't, so in the end, no it's not real.

WWE is real in the sense that the athletes are fighting, but the outcomes of the fights are predetermined, and the story lines are simply scripted.

WWE is real in that the stunts are real, but fake in that the outcomes of the matches are predetermined.

The WWE openly acknowledges that it's matches and storylines are scripted. That being said, the wrestlers are still athletes and the moves are very difficult (and often painful). It is very possible to enjoy the drama and athleticism even knowing that they are working from a script; after all, you can enjoy an action movie, as well.

WWE is not real. They openly acknowledge that it's matches, storylines, and shows are scripted. They don"t expect anyone to think it's material is real. Just like Summit ENTERTAINMENT is a movie distribution company (movie=acting), World Wrestling ENTERTAINMENT is also based out of acting. It is still extremely enjoyable though.
