It is not recommended by any authoritative credible source to lift weights every day. Your body needs time to recover after a lifting session. The muscle fibers need rest in order to rebuild themselves. It is possible to sustain severe injuries if weight lifting were done each day. It should be interspersed with cross training exercises.
If you are wanting to build muscle lifting everyday is a good idea. However, it is good practice to alternate working out your upper and lower body each day.
