Is there such a thing as a Chocolate Lab and German short hair mix?

Answer by  eaglover (394)

Yes there is. There are many pictures found online showing pictures of this unique mix. They are recognized by the American Canine Hybrid Club as German Shorthaired Labs and by the Designer Dog Kennel Club as German Shorthaired Labrador Retriever. They're considered to be an energetic and very loyal dog.

Recognized by the AKC? Not likely, but there's a chance you can find such a lovable mutt in the local SPCA.

Yes, these two dogs are genetically and physically compatible. Meaning that they are around the same size and are the same species. This is not a breed that is "bred"; however, I'm sure that there are many of them running around in various animal shelters and backyards.

Yes, every breed of dog can breed with ever other breed. Some aren't as likely, like a Chihuahua and Great Dane, but all breeds are physically capable of interbreeding. So if a Chocolate lab mated with a German Short Hair, the puppies would be Chocolate Lab and German Shorthair mixes.
