Is there a vaccination for feline leukemia? If so, is it safe?

I'm worried about my cat, having lost one to this disease.

Several vaccines are available to prevent feline leukemia. They are reasonably effective, however, no vaccine is 100% effective. This vaccine is as safe as any other vaccines for cats. On very rare occasions a cat will experience an allergic reaction, but this is treatable by your veterinarian. Adult cats should receive annual 'booster' vaccinations.

There is no vaccine, as leukemia is a type of cancer, and there is no vaccine for cancer. However there is a test for it, it will set you back more than 60 dollars. It is completely safe, as are all widely available vaccines. You should ask your vet for it, they will be happy to give it.

Yes, there is a vaccination for this type leukemia in cats. It is called FeLV. Cats are high risk for this and can be passed from cat to cat. I am firm believe better to be safe than sorry. I would call your vet and have your cat vacinated and then you won't have to worry. It is also safe.

There is a vaccination for feline leukemia available, however it's not 100% effective. It also has caused serious side effects in some cats. Like any vaccination, you have to decide if you want to take the risk. Cats usually get feline leukemia from each other. If your cat stays inside and isn't around other cats, it shouldn't be a concern.
