A good spider identification book is Spiders of North America: An Identification Manual by Paula Cushing and Darrell Ubick. You can find it for around forty to fifty dollars online. It's spiral bound and reasonably small and light enough to toss into a backpack.

The library has a book entitled "All About Spiders". It has every arachnoid species in it. It has a picture of the spider as well as the area of the world they are found. They also have whether the spider is venous or poisonous and how to treat a bite form it.
