It is an entity to itself, much like Wal Mart, K Mart and the like, it's a stand alone company on a slightly smaller scale.

The company as a whole is owned by The Kroger Company. Other stores apart of the company include Kroger, Ralphs, Fred Meyer, Food 4 Less, King Soopers, Smith's, Fry's, Fry's Marketplace, Dillons, QFC and City Market. The company owns around 2,468 stores.
