The monorail that runs inside the park is free for visitors. When you first arrive at Disneyworld, you'll find schedules for locations for the monorail, as well as rules regarding its use.

Whoever told you this is completely wrong. Disneyworld is not monorail free as a matter of fact it is connected by a series of monorails.

The monorail itself is free. It costs nothing to ride and it is a good way to see the area. It is meant to be convenient transportation for the people staying at the resort. Almost all of the stops are outside of the Disney world park. You can not enter the park for free via the Monorail.

In The Disney world parks the Monorail system is free for travel between parks, as well in some cases within parks.
