Maximum Velocity is Terminal Velocity. It's when the force pushing down on a falling object, the weight and air pressure equals the force pushing up on the object. Causing weightlessness.

If there is no decelerating force (friction, drag... ),then an constant force (gravity) keeps accelerating the body, and there is no limit to the maximum velocity for a falling body and the formula to use is v=u+at. If v is the current velocity at time t, under the acceleration a and with the initial velocity u (t=0) this is the formula used.
