Is kindergarten required all over the world?

No, it's pretty much a Western invention. That being said, there are many different systems for dividing students and what material will be taught. There are equivalents.

No. Kindergarten is only required in Western countries. It was introduced to ease transition of children with stay at home mothers to school, prior to formal first grade rigor.

Kindergarten is required in most of the world, although in some countries it is offered earlier than the age of five. In China and Morocco, for example, children can attend kindergarten as early as two years of age. But the purpose is basically the same -- to help children make the transition from the home environment to the school environment.
