Is it required to have a driver's side mirror?

My broke off and I don't want to replace it.

It all depends on your states vehicle code and inspection regulations. Normally you need your drivers side and can go without your passenger side mirror. Again check your states vehicle laws.

In Germany the answer is definitely YES! You donĀ“t need a mirror in the middle, but both side-mirrors are mandatory.

It used to be that most states did not require this. However you should check your regulation for your specific state to know for sure.

A car without a driver's side or a passenger's side mirrow would make it difficult to see on either side of the car. It would make it extremely difficult to see behind you especially if you were towing a trailer. In most states in the USA it is the law.
