Is it possible to make commercial airplane travel carbon neutral?

How could airlines make their flights avoid having an impact on the environment?

The use of biofuels would be the first step to reducing carbon emissions in air travel. The next step would require massive investment in carbon offsets. By planting forests or buying up and preserving existing forests airlines can move toward being carbon neutral. They would need to buy electricity from renewable sources for their airport operations also.

By searching for alternative fuel methods, as well as off-setting their carbon costs, airplanes could make a giant impact on their carbon footprint. They also should consider repackaging airline snacks in such a manner that they would be waste free and contain reusable items.

Its a pretty difficult problem. Right now, all you can do is purchase carbon offsets which I sort of view as cheating. Eventually, we will get there, but I really don't think it will be practical for the next 20 or 30 years.

Pretty unlikely right now. Theoretically perhaps they could run off of hydrogen which would make it pretty neutral. In addition maybe it would be possible to create propulsion that runs off of electricity but I've not really heard much talk about these things.

Using Space airport as a primary station will reduce the distants of flight and require less thrust, drag, weight and lift.

Biofuels is a great source, but it still somewhat impacts on the environment. Using the solar power and creating a space airport. As you know the earth move eveyday, using that we can have airplanes fly up in space-airport and fly-down to they destination as the earth moved.
