Of course you can! Noone ever said brighting things up was a bad idea. After all it is your house (i'm assuming) so go for it! Although if you live with someone else like a spouse in particular I would make sure they are okay with it before you start your project. Don't want you getting in trouble now!

Sure you should be able to paint any room in your house any way you want. Two colors would definitely help brighten up the basement. A good idea may be to use a bright color on the walls and a high gloss white on all the trim. You could even do different colors wall to wall.

It is definitely okay to use 2 paint colors when painting a basement. Adding color can change the entire atmosphere of any room, including a basement. Choose the colors that best fit the color-scheme and style that you like and paint away! If you don't like it, you can always paint over it.

I think 2 colors is a wonderful idea! I currently have bright yellow and a light peach as my basement colors and it really brightens the whole place up.

It is your basement and if two colors would brighten it, go for it. The worst thing that could happen is that you don't like it and will have to repaint. You are the only arbiter of taste in your house. No one else has the right to judge.

Of course you can use two colors! In fact, you can use any number of different colors in your basement as long as the colors all coordinate well with each other.

Definately. Most basements are dull and uninventive, and color is always a good way to bring any room to life.

As long as the colors compliment each other, as well as the other colors in the room, you should be fine. Rather than alternating walls or wall and trim, try painting the bottom half a darker, earthy tone, and the top a creamy, lighter color, to give it a professional effect while keeping it simple.

Brighten up is one thing, second is to make a basement looks a little higher that looks. One color of paint will be fine in this situation. For two colors, walls darker than ceiling.
