I think it's fine as long as you are all adults about it. Don't blame your friend for something their roommate did. Plus, it's great to find romance through existing friends!

Ooooh, bad idea. Bad. If it ends badly, then you'll be inclined to avoid your friend, or at the very least be inconvenient by avoiding your friend's apartment. Not worth the risk. This is why they say "don't $&! # where you eat. "

I would advise that you talk to your friend and find out how he/she feels about it. Your friend will let you know right away whether he/she is okay with it. If your friend gets upset ask for an explanation and then decide whether or not a date is worth risking your friendship over.

its not like he or she is your friend's significant other or blood related. being ones roommate doesn't limit you to who you can date ,same is true for other party, being someone's friend doesn't bound the person from dating their friends rommate.

It is only okay if your friend is okay with it. He or she may not mind, or it may make things more ackward, so ask first.
