A pulse rate consistently over 90 should be checked by a physician as it may be a sign that something may be wrong. Consistently is the key. Many factors can be involved that would affect a pulse rate, such as weight, fitness levels, age, weight, smoking, illnesses, etc.

Not necessarily. The normal range for pulses is 60 - 100 beats per minute. Ninety falls into this range, but 120 does not. Your pulse varies based on many things. Some top athletes have very low pulses; the 40's and 50's are common in this group an it doesn't mean anything bad. Likewise, some people have higher pulses normally.

If you are just sitting and not doing any kind of excersise your pulse rate should be between 60-80 beats per minute. When excersising it could get to 200 beats.
