Is floor paint different from regular paint?

I want to paint a garage floor.

Most times, floor paint is going to be more of an epoxy type paint since it will have to come into contact with shoes, tires, etc.. much more than a conventional wall can. The paint may also have some grit or sand mixed into it to give it traction for anything or anyone that may be moving on it.

Floor paint is usually an epoxy or alkyd base, which lends a highly durable finish. Regular paint would not wear as well as floor paint.

Yes, there is a major difference in floor paint and regular paint, durability. Floor paint is specifically designed to handle the addition wear and tear a floor takes.
