Is an electric tandoor worth it?

I am thinking about purchasing one.

Yes, the only disadvantage is the high cost. Definite advantage less maintenance than the clay tandoori. You may want to also look into a gas tandoori to explore all options.

No an electric tandoor is not worth the money you will pay for it. Assuming you are from America, most people have an outdoor grill available to them. As tandoor cooking is basicaly cooking in an extremely hot environment, an outdoor grill is perfect for this.

No, a better option would be to buy a pizza stone, and cook your roti on it per the manufacturer's instructions.

In my opinion, the extra expense and space of buying an electric tandoor are not worth it. They do not significantly change the flavor of the food in the way that charcoal does, so instead you can get close enough to the same effect just using a broiler pan and the broil setting on your oven.
