Actually GE cook tops available in electric or gas. The electric model has cook top of one piece of glass. The heating elements are arranged under the glass. The advantage is easy to clean. The gas model has cook top of one piece of glass on glass with four gas burners embedded in the glass. Still easy cleaning.

GE does make both gas and electric cooking stoves. If you are asking about a ceramic cooktop than those are always electric.

GE cook tops are available in gas and electric but gas is preferred more than electric. It is more efficient and clean burning. The food seems to taste better when cooked with gas.
