Is a 1966 Buick Riviera a classic car?

My brother just bought one to restore.

Yes, it is a classic car. Technically speaking, any car over 25 years of age is considered to be a classic car. However, in the car community the 1966 Buick Riviera is a real classic car, and has been known to sell for upwards of 11k when in good condition

Well according to most places a anything that is over 25 years old is considered an "antique" of classic car. So a 1966 model buick would fall under that category. This means it could also be eligible for special antique plates and insurance if required in the state you live in.

The 1966 Buick Riviera was in almost all of the showrooms across the USA. It is not considered a classic car because it would have to be 100 years old.

Yes in fact these are really nice cars. Buick no longer makes Rivieras at all they stopped making them in the early 2000s. Buicks are sought after by almost all car collectors and they are not cheap. Your brother made a good investment, and I wish him well in his endeavors.
