You can use a flex connector which you can get at your local hardware store. This will help you install the hole and pipe connection, and will have directions on it. You will also most likely need to buy PTFE tape, which can also be bought at your local hardware store.

Mount the pipe's elbow on the heater .On the outer side of the wall, attach the external part of the pipe and slide it into the hole connecting with the heater's elbow.

If you're installing any pipes, and want to connect two - apply gas-pipe joint compound to the pipe threads, then join together the pipe sections using black steel fittings.
