In cardiology, what is a fixed perfusion?

Fixed perfusion is usually just another term for ischemia, this occurs when there are blocked blood vessels therefore causing lack of oxygen which can lead to myocardial infarction.

Perfusion is ability of the cardiovascular system to deliver oxygen and nutrients to the tissues. Fixed perfusion is the percentage of that perfusion that does not vary with blood pressure.

It would be cleaning out the heart by pour liquid through the heart. It would be a permanant fix for the problem the patient is dealing with. The only solution other than surgery, it sounds like, is to flush the heart out with liquid. Or the surgery may be too great of a risk.

If this manifests in certain diagnostic procedure done with the heart, this may indicate that the patient is experiencing Coronary heart disease which may further lead to heart attack.
