Changes in your cat's litter box behavior can almost always be traced to a medical condition, stress, or something she dislikes about her litter box environment.

First of all more information would be helpful. Is she kicking the inside or outside of the box? Is she kicking the litter? Is it a new box or litter? New litter or boxes could be your cat adjusting or pouting. If shes kicking at the litter it might be irritating her or needs cleaning. She could also be playing.

Usually if a cat starts exhibiting new behavior regarding the litter box it is because she doesn't like something. Things like changing brand or type of cat litter will cause cats to kick, spray litter and do their biz just outside the box. She could also want it cleaner.

It may result from cats' habit of hiding their poops. Sometimes when my cat can't do that in the litter box, in his effort, he kicks the litter box instead.

It might be due to a change in litter, even if you are using the old brand, they may have changed their formula. Or you may not be using the same amount. Cats kick sand to bury their waste.

The fact that you cat is kicking her litter box doesn't mean that you cat has an infection. This is usually from a dirty litter. You can try to change the litter more. You can also try to switch to a clump free so you can get all the nasty pieces easier.
