If my best man is flying in from another state should I pay for his travel expenses?

The best option would be not to pay him directly for the travel expenses even when he flying in from the other state. If he is really your best man, he should bear the expenses on his own.

You can always offer to pay for his travel expenses and hope that he will do the polite thing and decline your offer. You can always be upfront with him and tell him that you want want to pay for his travel costs but you cannot afford it, or you can offer to pay for part of it.
