I would go with a neutral color like tan or beige. If you are brave and want a green carpet I would suggest, if you don't have already, going to hardwood floors and buying a multicolored rug with spring walk green in it. The extra colors will add to the room.

White or off-whit carpet would be best to maintain the light, springy feel to the room. You could accent the floor with a rug with a floral-design or pastel colors.

It all depends what room you are painting. I would go with a light grey, very pale yellow, brown and green make a nice combination for a den. If you want to be dramatic go dark if not go very light.

For the most versatility, choose a neutral color such as crisp tan or beige that is a touch darker than your paint. Yellow or peach with the same hue/tone as the paint is a bolder choice. Then layer an area rug on top that picks up the colors of your new carpet, paint, accessories or window coverings.
