It depends, are you able to tell if its broken? if your unsure i'd recommend seeing a doctor and possibly getting some x-rays taken. If you think its just a sprang then you can Ice it, wrap it tightly with an ace bandage and take it easy till it heals.

-You should first identify the injury. -If the ankle is suspected to be broken, then you should not stand or put pressure on the ankle and have it looked at immediately. -If the ankle is not broken, simply avoid pressure on the ankle and apply ice to reduce swelling.

If you are unable to walk seek medical attention. For simple strains and sprains, the RICE method should be used. Rest, Ice, Compress, and Elevate. Ice until your ankle is numb. Most people stop icing when it starts to hurt, but leave it on until it is totally numb. Use an ace bandage to limit movement of the joint.

Wrap your ankle to give increased support and then use a bucket of ice (yes it is cold) and then heat to help speed the healing process. Keep it elevated.
