Accept that the loss of a person is a painful experience and you will need to go through the process of recovery. Read up on its different stages to be aware of what you'll be going through. Accept the stages as they come. The sooner you get through the process, the quicker you'll recover.

When struggling to get over a break up, one of the most torturous things you can do to yourself is spend time thinking about the other person, or worse, trying to forget the other person. Enjoy the happy memories you have, but immerse yourself in a hobby or task you enjoy to keep your mind occupied.

Try spending time with your friends, involving yoruself in activities that will keep you and your mind busy. The busier you are the less time you have to concentrate on what you could have been doing with him. In fact the busier you are and happier you seem without him the bigger chance you have of him wanting you back.

If you don't want to think about him anymore, find something completely engaging to do. This can be straightening out your finances, doing something really fun with your friends or activities you've needed to do but haven't (cleaning, catching up with family, studying hard for an exam).
