How to make cabinets from barn wood?

Barn wood is like most other wood, only it as character from years of use. Look at the wood and select the most interesting pieces; these will be used for cabinet doors. Using the rest, measure and cut legths to be nailed together into 3 sided boxes. Nail them to the wall. Cut doors and hang them on the front.

If you're not handy with wood you can give the wood to someone else to make the cabinets for you. Just make a cabinet like normal and sand it down.

Making cabinets from reclaimed barn wood yields a deeply satisfying result. Strip, plane, and sand the wood, then build cabinets as usual.

You can make your cabinets in any style you want, and, being it from barn wood, it'll look amazing. There's no need to worry about splinters. But it has been exposed to the elements, so you have to get it well primed, even before painting it. That way, once it's dry, it'll be less absorbant, and you'll use less paint.
