It is best if you can remove the doors from the cabinets before you begin working on them. You will get the best finish if you remove the old paint.

You definitely want to strip the white paint off and work with the bare wood. Remember to use a primer and two coats of paint. This will get you the best coloring.

Firstly paint the wood with distemper because it will absorb the liquid as much it can and then brush with oil paint and will save too much oil paint

You should start by stripping the white paint off. You really need to have the cabinets down to the bare wood and natural state.Then you should use primer and at least two coats of paint to give the best look you can give your work.
