The volume 15 peroxide is the least strongest volume. If you are trying to lighten or change your hair you would need a stronger volume like a volume 20.

20 volume is what is typically found in dye and bleach kits in stores, depending on brand of bleach it can be 30 volume. 15 volume is not as damaging as a 30 or 40 volume. just dont leave it on your hair for more than 45 minutes.

Peroxide is not good for your hair. It is too easy to get an unwanted hair color. Peroxide will dry your hair out too much and cause damage because it isn't made to color hair. I would get an inexpensive but good brand of hair coloring instead and you will probably have better results.

Eithery way the hair will be damaged to some degree as you are coloring it and it's a chemical change. Being 40 volume is the worst and 10 volume is the best, it's not too terribly bad. Just don't leave it on too long.
