Handle the plant with heavy work gloves or folded up newspaper. Use a funnel or folded bit of card to pour soil around the plant in its new pot.

In my experience, just dig a shallow hole and put the cactus into the ground, You can also cut off and ear and stick it into the soil.

Prepare new pot and soil, leaving a hole for the roots. Loosen roots from existing soil. Using chopsticks remove cactus from old pot and put into new pot.
