What information can you provide me on Ocotillo Cactus?

I have several Ocotillo Cactus plants in my yard that I would like to ensure can survive the winter months.

Your cactus is frost tolerant to 0 degrees F. Cut off water to the plant in the winter months to avoid frost injury. Ocotillo can look dead and blossom out jubilantly in spring after a good rain or irrigation. In case of freeze cover with frost fabric aka frost fleece.

Once established the ocotillo cactus is pretty hearty. Remember in the winter months to continue to water your cactus once a month.

I know that in the winter it is better to just water them once a month and not to provide nutrition to them as you would do in the summer. I know that this type of cactus does not need as much care as the other cacti I've come across.

The cactus that you have can survive without water for several weeks or months throughout the year. You will probably want to water the plants around one to two times a month.
