If you live in the right type of ecosystem, starting a hillside cactus farm is easy and rewarding. First, select the specimens you wish to include from your local cactus supply. Then, clear the area of any other type of growth. Cacti only require very shallow holes, so don't overdo the digging. Then plnat! Enjoy!

Plow your hill so that the rows run perpendicular to the slope. If it is very steep, you may need to build up steps with wood or other supports before you plant.

Select growing location. Test and prepare soil according to the test results; you may need to add sand or other gardening materials to the soil. Select quality plantings to establish the cactus farm. Using the recomendations from your local nursery for the plant variety selected, dig a hole in a sunnny spot and water sparingly.

You can order the cactuses, whatever kind they may be, online. Once you get them shipped to you, then transplant them into the ground on the side of a hill. Make sure that the hill you plant them on is your own land or your farm may be destroyed by the owner of the hill.
