How much water does my lawn with St. Augustine grass need?

St Augustine is a dear, and can be hardy, but it is chancy too. The landscapers rule of thumb is 3/4" which says to me this groundcover likes to be moist and maintained,but never soggy. Though this is a southern ground cover, it can suffer from sun, so keep moistened.

Well that is a tricky question to answer, it depends on what state you live in , your soil, and the season. Really it is best to water as needed, look for signs like drying out, or when you walk on the grass it will not bounce back easy.

During dry periods you should water your grass daily. Another way to keep your grass healthy is to fertilize at the beginning of spring.
